ABOUT SNEGGI

Diana Janssen fell in love with knitting already at an early age. Spending childhood time with her grandmother in Siberia the skills came naturally, just like earlier generations of women in her family had similarly mastered them.

Until Diana moved to Switzerland in late 2016 she made her pure wool sweaters and cardigans mostly for herself and her family.  However, her creations didn’t stay unnoticed on the streets of her new hometown Basel or while exploring the wider country.  People were impressed by Diana’s designs, so much that she decided together with her mother to start their own label SNEGGI.

The name SNEGGI is inspired by the russian word “Snegurochka", or Snow Maiden, a folklore character to be believed a granddaughter of Santa Claus.

SNEGGI’s creations are knitted by hand or on a domestic machine using natural yarns which are carefully sourced from all over Europe, with the focus on mohair and merino wool.

While Diana and her mother remain loyal to Siberia’s nature, they are increasingly inspired by the beauty of Switzerland.  Either way, with their designs, and fine selection of the highest quality of yarn, they aim to make one truly stand out from the crowd.
